For thousands of years, philosophers have impacted how we understand ourselves, and our place within the world. In Ancient Greece, a philosopher, or “lover of wisdom”, was a person who dedicated themselves to the study of life and the human condition. Today, philosophers work in many different fields, continuing the tradition of thinking deeply and attempting to answer difficult questions. For this assignment, students choose a famous philosopher to study and create a report to share their learning.

This resource guides students through conducting their own research report on a famous philosopher (60+ topics are listed). After choosing a philosopher to focus on, students are asked to conduct research using the Internet and books while following criteria. Next, students are asked to share their learning by creating a poster board, presentation board, power point presentation, or dodecahedron (Instructions and Pentagon Template included). Artwork may also be created to further display learning. Finally, students present their work to the class.

Can be done in partners. Printable Evaluation forms included!

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a student-centered pedagogy in which students are challenged to actively learn about a subject for an extended period of time. It is a form of active learning or inquiry-based learning. Project-Based Learning is in contrast to paper-based, rote memorization, or teacher-led instruction that presents established facts. Please be aware of what you are purchasing.

I was able to edit the assignment to my class requirements. It helped me with creating instructions and rubric, plus I was able to upload the version to my online platform. Thank you!
