Throughout history, pandemics have profoundly impacted human life. A pandemic is defined as an infectious disease that rapidly spreads to a large number of people throughout the world. From small pox and tuberculosis to SARS and COVID-19, pandemics can vary greatly from one another. Through studying past and current pandemics, we can learn how best to manage, or even prevent them in the future. For this assignment, students will choose a pandemic to study and create a project to showcase their learning.
This resource guides students through the process of conducting their own research report on a pandemic. First, students choose a pandemic to focus on and learn how to properly conduct research. After researching, students choose how to showcase their learning by creating a poster board, presentation board, PowerPoint, or dodecahedron. Afterwards, students present their learning to the class and self-assess their achievement.

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a student-centered pedagogy in which students are challenged to actively learn about a subject for an extended period of time. It is a form of active learning or inquiry-based learning. Project-Based Learning is in contrast to paper-based, rote memorization, or teacher-led instruction that presents established facts.

This lesson was engaging. My students thought the lesson was easy to follow and gain an understanding of the material. Highly recommend!
This was relatable to the COVID-19 pandemic, as I was teaching science and my students had questions about how pandemics start. This gave them the opportunity to learn more about other pandemics and increase their content knowledge!
My students were conducting a Pandemic PBL and this resource was helpful to them
Great activity! I like that I could edit the product to suit my needs. Thank you!
I loved that this was an editable document. It is quite comprehensive and contains everything needed for both teachers and students. My students haven't finished yet, but so far they are engaged and learning how to research and organize information.
