Celebrate Earth Day with this hands-on and engaging activity!
Asking students to construct 3D models of planet Earth will provide them with many learning opportunities. For example, not only will students learn where the continents/countries/oceans are located, they will also internalize the continents/countries/oceans correct size and shape.
This resource guides students through the process of creating a 3D model of the Earth out of paper. We decided to add this title to our "Gifted and Talented" series as cutting and gluing the parts of the globe can be challenging.
These globes can be hung from the classroom ceiling and are beautiful on display. Have fun :)

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a student-centered pedagogy in which students are challenged to actively learn about a subject for an extended period of time. It is a form of active learning or inquiry-based learning. Project-Based Learning is in contrast to paper-based, rote memorization, or teacher-led instruction that presents established facts. Please be aware of what you are purchasing.

It takes some time and lots of modeling but the students get so excited when they start to understand what they are doing
This is a great activity to create a globe but it took longer than I realized, make sure to leave plenty of time, or try one yourself first! The final project looks great!
This resource was great for my classroom, helpful and my students enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for creating and sharing such a wonderful resource! It was perfect for my 6th grade ELL students.
My students loved this hands on activity. We are using it to review the continents as well as oceans... using this activity for social science as well as science standards.
