Since 1998, readers from around the world have been captivated with the mystery, adventure novel, Holes, written by Louis Sachar. Whether it is the intriguing plot, the unforgettable characters, or the humorous style of writing, there is so much to love about this novel.
For this project, students complete 12 activities related to Holes (Stanley, Zero, X-Ray, The Warden, Mr. Sir, Mr. Pendanski, Katherine Barlow, Camp Green Lake, God's Thumb, The Curse) and construct a 12-sided polyhedron called a dodecahedron to showcase their learning. These can be hung from the ceiling and are beautiful on display.
For each pentagon, students are asked to answer the guiding questions and complete the challenges through conducting research. To communicate their learning, students write and draw pictures within each pentagon. After completing the 12 pentagons, students follow step-by-step instructions to construct their dodecahedrons.

Easy to put together, engaged my students and so much fun!
This was just the right amount of difficult. I used this resource with my students on the last few days of school to culminate our learning around the book Holes. This was highly engaging and the end product turned out so neat.
This resource is incredibly well-designed and thoughtfully put together! It’s both engaging and easy to use, making it a perfect addition to any teacher’s toolkit. The activities are clear, student-friendly, and aligned with learning goals, which made implementation seamless in the classroom.
So cute! My students loved this activity to review one of their favorite books! They liked how they could draw a picture of the characters. It is a little time-consuming, but well worth it! The display of all of these hanging from the ceiling was so cute.
This project will last us atleast 3-4 classes! Grade 7 level
