Engage your students in project-based learning!
For this project, students complete 12 activities on animals (Jaguars, Polar Bears, Pandas, Tarantulas, Rabbits, Tigers, Horses, Cheetahs, Cats, Dogs) and construct a 12-sided polyhedron called a dodecahedron to showcase their learning. The prompts include, physical features, habitats, structural and behavioral adaptations, and evolutionary history. These can be hung from the ceiling and are beautiful on display.
For each pentagon, students are asked to answer the guiding questions and complete the challenges through conducting research. To communicate their learning, students write and draw pictures within each pentagon. After completing the 12 pentagons, students follow step-by-step instructions to construct their dodecahedrons.

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a student-centered pedagogy in which students are challenged to actively learn about a subject for an extended period of time. It is a form of active learning or inquiry-based learning. Project-Based Learning is in contrast to paper-based, rote memorization, or teacher-led instruction that presents established facts. Please be aware of what you are purchasing.

I used this for my opt-out students while I taught Sex Ed. It was perfect for the opt-outs as it kept them busy. When I asked them about the project, they said they really enjoyed it. That is a lot coming from middle schoolers.
My students really enjoyed this and it was a great resource!
I used this resource as an end of the year STEM project. They were very engaged the whole time and learned a lot researching all of the animals.
For the end of the year, keep the students engaged they are doing a multi-level animal research paper, project, and presentation and this resource is one of several options I am giving students to help focus their work.
We did this as a class, each student did a side. It was so fun seeing them create individual sides, then bring them together as one.
